The German government has reduced the coronavirus risk category of three countries, including Turkey, from “high incidence region” to “risk region”. Italy and the Czech Republic were excluded from the risk zone.

The German government lowered Turkey’s risk level for the coronavirus outbreak from the “high incidence region” category to the “risk region” category. With the application that will be valid from Sunday, June 6, the quarantine obligation between 5 and 10 days applied to those who come to Germany from Turkey is lifted.

Those who carry a valid test showing that they are negative for the coronavirus on their way from Turkey will not have to go into isolation from Sunday.

The federal government downgraded the status of Sweden and Lithuania, along with Turkey, from the “high incidence zone” to the “risk zone”.

Italy and Czechia are not risk zones
Meanwhile, the German government removed all of Italy and Czechia, as well as parts of Austria, from the list of “risk zones”. Those who come to Germany by land from these countries will no longer be subject to any restrictions. Those arriving by air only need to have a negative test result with them.

Among the places removed from the “risk area” list are the resort areas of Croatia, 8 of Switzerland’s 26 cantons, the French island of Corsica, the overseas territories of France and the Netherlands, and the Vatican.

What do “high incidence zone” and “risk zone” mean?
Countries with a seven-day incidence value exceeding 200 per 100 thousand people are included in the “high incidence region” group by Germany. Countries with a weekly incidence value above 50 are considered in the “risk zone” category.

There are already more than 100 countries in the “risk zone” group of the German government. However, the German Foreign Ministry’s travel warning for countries in both the “high incidence region” and “risk region” groups remains valid.
